ABOUT RACHAEL BROOKS AND BEADS
Rachael Brooks currently lives in Raleigh, North Carolina with her husband. She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel then became a tax accountant and CPA. She’s now a stay at home for her two children.
Following the #MeToo movement in 2017, Rachael wrote “Beads” in an effort to raise awareness for fellow victims of sexual violence and encourage them to speak their truth (only 1 in 5 women report rape). The book is about a rape victim who is determined to become a survivor by putting her life back together. It tells the story of the character’s journey following the brutal attack, confronting the justice system, and finding forgiveness and peace.
The emotional journey the character takes highlights real-life themes of the difficulty of victims coming forward with rape in today’s society and the importance of raising awareness for sexual assault so that no one should ever have to go through the same trauma as her.
